The clock is ticking. Thursday at 6:20 PM our adventure begins!
We're all feverishly trying to keep the project moving along (the main reason for our trip), while trying to check off the hundreds of to do items that come with a 26 day trip to a country- scratch that, a continent- where none of us have been. Needless to say, stopping the mail, laundry, and safari planning keep creeping to the front.
We'll post more info on the group and our project before we leave, but until then, here's a starter vocab list / cast of characters that you'll need to follow us:
- Muzungu: This is what Ugandans call white people. And what we now call ourselves.
- The Sheraton: Everything revolves around the Sheraton in Kampala, as in "it's south of the Sheraton" or "Jeanah, you left your fanny pack by the Sheraton pool". This is also not where we are staying. :(
- Mr. T's: This is where we are staying. Mr. T is short for Tumwesigye, our landlord. It's an apartment with "double decker" beds in the ritzy Bukoto part of Kampala.
- K.T. Dubs: Our finance person at Michigan.
